A few brief showers could develop toward evening, with rain showers becoming more likely overnight. The low should hover near 71 degrees, while southwest winds reach 14 to 18 mph and gusts could hit 33 mph.
The National Weather Service Boston/Norton says the strongest winds are more likely across the Cape and Islands, where marine Gale Warnings are in effect from late Wednesday night into Thursday. Small Craft Advisories also cover much of the surrounding waters, so boaters should not mistake the relatively mild temperatures for calm conditions.
Thursday Turns Hot Before The Weekend Reset
Thursday could begin with a passing shower before the clouds break into partly sunny skies. Temperatures may surge to about 88 degrees, with west or southwest winds and gusts of 20 to 30 mph.
That sharp warm-up is a substantive change from the earlier outlook, which had already flagged late-week wind and showers but did not yet include the expanded marine warnings. Hoodline's previous forecast noted the approaching shift as Boston moved out of its calmer early-week pattern.
Friday And Saturday Look Like The Better Bet
Friday brings a much more comfortable forecast, with sunny skies, a high near 74 and lower humidity. Friday night should be clear and chilly by late-summer standards, with temperatures dropping into the 40s to lower 50s.
Saturday stays sunny near 74, while Sunday turns warmer near 78 with mostly sunny skies, a chance of showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms. Monday and Tuesday bring above-normal temperatures, with highs in the upper 70s to middle 80s.
