Atlanta woke Friday to cloudy skies and temperatures in the low 60s, but a quick turn toward sunshine is on the way. The city should reach about 76 degrees Friday, setting up the first notably fall-like weekend in months.
Some low clouds could linger into late morning before clearing, according to the National Weather Service. Friday night should be mostly clear, with temperatures dropping to around 58 degrees and no rain expected.
A Sunny Weekend With Cooler Mornings
Saturday brings sunny skies and a high near 79, followed by another cool night with a low around 57. Sunday will be mostly sunny and a bit warmer at about 82 degrees, while morning temperatures remain refreshingly mild in the mid-50s.
That forecast lines up nicely with Atlanta’s outdoor calendar. The rescheduled Beltline Lantern Parade is planned for Saturday evening along the Southwest Trail, starting near 1089 Allene Ave. SW, and Discover Atlanta lists several other festivals and outdoor events across the city this weekend.
Heat Builds Back In Next Week
The cool spell will not stick around indefinitely. Highs are expected to climb to 85 degrees Monday, 87 Tuesday and 89 Wednesday, with mostly sunny skies and dry conditions holding through the middle of the week.
A slight chance of showers arrives Wednesday night and continues into Thursday, when Atlanta could reach 87 degrees. No watches, warnings or advisories are in effect, but a light layer will be useful for early mornings before the afternoons warm up again.
