Fire crews responded Sunday afternoon to a vegetation fire in a San Diego canyon.
San Diego Fire-Rescue Department reported the fire in a post on San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
The agency said the fire covered a quarter acre, was spreading at a moderate rate and had crews on scene.
Location in the Canyon
The fire was burning in the canyon between the 5900 block of Streamview Drive and Audrey Lane.
The department said it would provide updates and urged the public to download the Genasys Protect app, a tool used to help residents track evacuation zones and emergency alerts in real time.

San Diego Fire-Rescue urged residents to use Genasys Protect. A separate AlertSanDiego update for the Ariane Fire near Clairemont, dated 06/24/2025 07:02 PM PDT, also directed readers to Genasys Protect for evacuation updates in their area. That update concerned a different incident and does not establish that evacuation notices were issued for the Streamview Drive fire.
KPBS reported that Genasys software lets officials map evacuation zones using factors such as population density, neighborhoods, nearby roads and geographic features, then send alerts to specific areas. Those capabilities do not mean an alert was issued for this fire.
