Seven Businesses, Two Jurisdictions
The raid hit three establishments inside the city of Dalton — GQ Spa on Chattanooga Road, Supreme Spa on Airport Road, and A Healthy Massage, also on Airport Road — along with four more in unincorporated Whitfield County: Royal Spa, Purity Massage, Spring Massage, and Summer Massage, as reported by 11Alive. The operation involved Dalton police and Whitfield County authorities across city and county locations.
The entire case traces back to a single citizen complaint. The Dalton Police Department received one report alleging prostitution at GQ Spa, and that initial tip led officers to uncover similar activity at six additional venues, the department said in its update. What began as a narrow inquiry into one business turned into a sweeping, months-long operation touching nearly every corner of the local massage industry.
No Trafficking Victims Identified — Yet
Staff from the Conasauga Circuit District Attorney's Office Victim/Witness Assistance Program joined the operation to interview women on-site. Initial interviews at the city locations did not identify any human trafficking victims among those present, the Dalton Police Department noted, though the department has said the broader investigation remains open.
That distinction matters. Separately, 2025 data from the National Human Trafficking Hotline recorded 649 reported sex trafficking venue instances nationwide involving illicit massage and spa businesses. Whether any of the Whitfield County cases ultimately involve trafficking, as opposed to prostitution alone, remains part of the ongoing investigation.
County Ordinance Under Consideration
In the wake of the arrests, Whitfield County Sheriff Darren Pierce planned to work with the Whitfield County Board of Commissioners on an ordinance addressing opening and operating requirements, according to the Dalton Daily Citizen.
For now, the investigation into the seven raided businesses continues, and officials have not said whether additional charges or victims could still surface.
