After a decade without introducing a new restaurant concept, chef Matt Carter and business partner Brian Raab plan to open DASH in Scottsdale this November. The all-day restaurant and market is slated for Suite 101 at 9619 N. Hayden Road in McCormick Ranch, according to Phoenix New Times.
The project puts a more casual, take-it-with-you format alongside the group’s existing restaurants: Zinc Bistro, The Mission and Fat Ox. DASH is planned to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, with online ordering and curbside pickup as well as a market for prepared food and other items. Carter developed the menu with Lisa Graf, the New Times reported.
A restaurant designed for more than a sit-down meal
Coffee, croissants and other morning offerings will share space with sandwiches, salads and Roman-style pizza. Dinner is expected to include Portuguese-style chargrilled chicken and charcoal-roasted potatoes. The menu also includes soft serve, while the market will carry prepared items from the partners’ other kitchens, including mac and cheese from Zinc Bistro and guacamole from The Mission, according to the New Times report.
The format is not without a local point of comparison, though the businesses are not identical. Luci’s at the Orchard in Phoenix combines a cafe, coffee and juice bar, gourmet marketplace, and ice cream and candy shop, according to the business’s website. That example shows a similar mix of food and retail in one location; it does not establish a broader market trend or predict how DASH will perform.
A new concept, distinct from a location expansion
Carter and Raab also recently expanded The Mission beyond Scottsdale. ABC15 reported that the existing restaurant concept opened a location at Epicenter at Agritopia in Gilbert on February 9. That was an additional location for The Mission; DASH is a new concept for the group.
DASH’s reported opening window is November; the New Times report does not give a specific day. Its planned combination of cafe service, prepared food and a take-home market will make it a different kind of addition to the partners’ restaurant lineup.
