Storms Build After Noon
Saturday’s high should reach about 77 degrees. The best chance for rain arrives from midafternoon into early evening, when thunderstorms become likely across the plains and the Denver metro area.
The National Weather Service Denver/Boulder office says some storms could become strong to severe, with hail and locally heavy downpours as the main concerns. Storm coverage and intensity should be greater east of Interstate 25, while areas closer to the foothills and west of the highway may see more limited activity.
Cooler, Quieter Weather Arrives Sunday
Saturday night brings another chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight, followed by mostly cloudy skies and a low near 54 degrees. Sunday will be cooler, with a high around 74 and a 40% chance of afternoon and evening showers or thunderstorms, especially south and east of Denver.
Monday looks like the week’s weather reset, with a high near 75. Temperatures then warm beginning Tuesday, with some precipitation potential Tuesday into Wednesday, before another mostly sunny day near 80 on Friday.
The latest forecast is a more specific and more urgent update to Friday’s Denver outlook, which had already flagged Saturday as the weekend’s stormiest day. Anyone with afternoon outdoor plans should keep an eye on the sky and move indoors immediately if thunder is heard.
