Silver Leaf Cigar Lounge, the Davidoff-stocked smoking bar that has anchored downtown Fort Worth's Sundance Square since 2014, is packing up its humidors and heading to West 7th. The lounge announced it is moving to Artisan Circle, taking over a 7,500-square-foot space at 3028 Crockett St. that most recently housed the cocktail bar Stirr and the wing restaurant Dirty Bones.
Silver Leaf currently operates at 426 Commerce St. in downtown Fort Worth, where it opened its first location back in 2014, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The lounge was built after Sundance Square developers approached owner Tom Cavinder about creating an upscale smoking bar inside the district's new downtown building, a founding chapter chronicled by Cigar Aficionado. The new West 7th location will occupy the former Stirr and Dirty Bones footprint, a unit that includes both ground-floor space and a dedicated rooftop bar area, per the Star-Telegram's reporting.
Teaser renderings released alongside the announcement show a humidor room, indoor bar, lounge seating and a live-music stage, and the Artisan Circle building itself features a ground-level patio and rooftop balcony. Silver Leaf has not released an opening timeline, and the lounge and Artisan Circle say updates will be posted to their social media accounts, the station's report notes.
A Cigar Bar With Industry Pedigree
Silver Leaf is more than a neighborhood smoking spot. It holds status as an official Davidoff Appointed Merchant, stocking rare smokes like the $500 Davidoff Oro Blanco, and was named a U.S. finalist for Davidoff's Appointed Merchant of the Year award in 2021, according to Cigar Journal. The lounge was also nominated for the Star-Telegram's Reader's Choice Award for favorite bar in 2023.
The venue's reputation extends beyond its own bar stools. Silver Leaf served as the launching pad for Micallef Cigars in 2016, when entrepreneur Al Micallef met stranded Cuban cigar rollers from the Gómez Sánchez family after their vehicle broke down in Fort Worth, according to 360 West Magazine. That chance meeting eventually grew into a factory in Nicaragua and a nationally distributed cigar brand.
At the new location, Silver Leaf plans to keep serving its curated craft cocktail menu alongside wine, beer and other liquors, and premium hand-rolled cigars including Davidoff, per the Star-Telegram. The lounge will remain open to walk-in customers, with hours running Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m.
What VIP Membership Buys
Silver Leaf's VIP membership costs $1,200 per year, or roughly $25 per week, according to the Star-Telegram's reporting. Members get personal humidor storage space, store discounts, one cigar gift each month, and access to member-exclusive events including a golf tournament.
The indoor smoking itself is possible because of a carve-out in Fort Worth's municipal code. City ordinance makes it illegal to smoke indoors in public places including bars and restaurants, but it allows exceptions for retail smoke shops and cigar lounges operating in facilities without shared ventilation systems with neighboring businesses. Fort Worth's City Council amended that ordinance in December 2017, according to Fort Worth Business Press, making the city one of the last major Texas municipalities to eliminate general indoor smoking in bars while preserving the standalone-lounge exemption Silver Leaf relies on.
A District Remaking Itself Around New Tenants
Silver Leaf's arrival fits a broader shift underway at Artisan Circle, formerly known as Crockett Row at West 7th. Dallas commercial real estate firm Younger Partners acquired the 282,805-square-foot, five-block property in August 2022 and rebranded it in November 2023, according to Shopping Center Business, a move aimed at stabilizing high vacancy rates and shifting public perception away from the district's rowdier nightlife reputation. The landlord's multi-million-dollar revitalization plan has included adding more than 300 security cameras tied to police alert systems, replacing garage elevators, and redesigning central paseos to cut down on late-night disturbances.
Those investments come as the surrounding West 7th Entertainment District has posted its own safety gains. Major crime in the district dropped 36% between 2023 and 2024, according to the City of Fort Worth, alongside enhanced police patrols and the city's voluntary Golden Lasso Accreditation program for nightlife venues; police seized 115 firearms in the district in 2023 compared with 90 in 2024.
Artisan Circle has also been drawing higher-end culinary tenants as part of its repositioning toward dining and daytime foot traffic, including Neapolitan pizzeria Partenope Ristorante and Irish pub Henry McCarty's, both on Crockett Street, according to John Zimmerman Real Estate. Younger Partners has continued expanding its footprint nearby, too, acquiring the former Fred's Texas Cafe site on Currie Street in January 2024 for future redevelopment, per The Real Deal. Silver Leaf's move into a former cocktail bar and wing spot, with its rooftop balcony and live-music stage, slots neatly into that same higher-end, mixed-use vision for the district.
