East Point police are asking for help locating 15-year-old Serenity Lynn Williams. A police bulletin described by FOX 5 Atlanta says she was last seen walking near 3630 Market Place Boulevard at about 2:20 p.m. Monday. It describes her as 5 feet 5 inches tall, about 185 pounds, with reddish-brown hair and brown eyes; she was wearing all-black clothing and white flip-flops.
The same report says police believe Williams may still be in the local area and do not suspect foul play. Officers have not said what led to her disappearance or where she was heading.
Two national measures, with different meanings
National figures can provide context for missing-person reporting, but they do not describe Williams’ circumstances. The FBI reported 498,038 missing-person records entered into NCIC in 2025. That is a nationwide count of records entered during the year—not a Georgia total or a count of cases that remained unresolved.
A different measure comes from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, which said it assisted law enforcement with 29,568 missing-child cases in 2024 and helped bring 91% of those children home. Those are cases NCMEC assisted with, not NCIC record entries, so the figures should not be treated as directly comparable.
The FBI report says agencies are required to enter NCIC missing-person records for people under 21. That general rule does not confirm whether or how Williams’ case was entered in the database.
