Rare collector cars will line West 50th Street this Sunday as the eighth annual Edina Car Show returns to the 50th & France business district, a free, rain-or-shine event that pairs classic and exotic vehicles with runway fashion and live dance performances. The show is entirely free to attend, according to CBS News Minnesota.
The three runway showcases are produced by Jodi Mayers & Style Partners and will spotlight local retailers, according to the Rotary Club of Edina. West 50th Street itself will become a pedestrian mall for the day, and the entertainment lineup also includes three live dance performances by House of Dance Twin Cities.
The show traces back to 2019, when Rotary member Josh Sprague pitched the idea after attending regional car shows with his children, launching the event in Southdale Center's parking lot. It relocated in 2023 to the 50th & France business district, transforming it from a mall parking-lot gathering into a main-street commercial showcase, per the event's own account on its Edina Car Show website. Since its 2019 launch, the show has raised $133,500 for local nonprofits through the Edina Rotary Foundation, the Rotary organization notes.
Prizes, Free Parking, and a Warning About Scammers
Entrants competing for this year's balloted Best in Show award are eyeing a $100 Lunds & Byerlys gift card along with an artist rendering of their vehicle by Ken Madden, according to the 50th & France Business and Professional Association.
West 50th Street converts fully into a pedestrian-only zone for the day. Parking is free for attendees, per the Rotary Club of Edina.
For this year's event, admission is free, according to the event information. The event information does not describe ticket sales, but all car-show slots are full.
A Corridor in Flux Around the Show
The 50th & France corridor straddling the Edina-Minneapolis border is home to shops, restaurants, and service businesses. The retail hub has seen plenty of change this year even beyond car show season.
Baristas at the corridor's Starbucks location voted 9-6 to unionize with Starbucks Workers United in July, becoming the 17th unionized Starbucks store in Minnesota, as Hoodline reported at the time. Around the same stretch of storefronts, Red Cow temporarily closed for an interior remodel in May, reflecting the steady tenant turnover in the retail district.
The show's luxury-car draw also brings high-end vehicles to the region. Edina is in Hennepin County.
Whatever the weather Sunday, organizers say the show will go on as planned, giving car enthusiasts, fashion followers, and neighborhood regulars a reason to fill West 50th Street for a few hours of free, open-air spectacle.
