A former Applebee's building on Uptown Boulevard is getting a new life as a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant. Eki Sushi is preparing to bring revolving sushi, a self-serve ramen bar, and all-you-can-eat pricing to Cedar Hill.
CultureMap Dallas reports that Eki Sushi is expected to open in mid-to-late September. Eki Sushi is operated by a team including Meng Yang and Ben Zhu, who have previously run other Asian dining concepts across Texas, according to CultureMap Dallas.
A spokesperson for Eki Sushi told the outlet that the owners picked Cedar Hill, located roughly 18 miles southwest of downtown Dallas, because it's an expanding suburban market with relatively few existing sushi options. The building itself was formerly an Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar.
What's on the Menu, and What It Costs
Diners can expect a full weekly pricing breakdown built around the all-you-can-eat format. Lunch runs $20, while dinner is priced at $30. Weekend all-you-can-eat revolving sushi bumps up to $31 per person, per the same CultureMap Dallas report.
The restaurant enforces a 90-minute dining limit and charges regular menu prices for any unfinished dishes, a policy meant to discourage food waste during the all-you-can-eat service, the report notes. Beyond the conveyor belt itself, the restaurant also offers a self-serve ramen bar alongside its sushi lineup.
Joining a Growing DFW Sushi Trend
Cedar Hill sits along the US 67 corridor in southwest Dallas County.
Hoodline previously tracked that regional expansion, driven by national brands like Kura Revolving Sushi Bar opening in Denton, Euless, Fort Worth, Frisco, McKinney, and Plano. Eki Sushi's arrival adds a new conveyor-belt sushi option for the suburb as it continues adding new dining options, including the food hall covered in Hoodline's strip center food hall report earlier this year.
