Storms Follow Another Hot Afternoon
East-southeast winds will run about 5 to 9 mph during the day, with mostly sunny skies before clouds build later. The National Weather Service forecast gives El Paso a 10% chance of rain tonight, and warns that localized flash flooding remains the main concern in burn scars, mountain canyons and other flood-sensitive areas, according to the National Weather Service.
A Flood Watch begins at noon Thursday for parts of southern New Mexico, including areas of Doña Ana County, and continues through late tonight. The watch does not list El Paso County, but fast-moving storms can still create dangerous water over low-water crossings and roads near the metro area.
Weekend Storm Chances Fade Before Returning Next Week
Friday looks hot, with a high near 91, and scattered thunderstorms remain possible, with a 40% precipitation chance during one forecast period. Saturday should remain in the upper 80s to lower 90s, with scattered thunderstorms continuing, while Sunday looks like the driest day of the weekend, with relatively quiet conditions and little chance of rain.
Monday also looks relatively quiet, with little chance of rain. The forecast calls for additional rain and possibly below-average highs Tuesday and Wednesday—a notable change from the earlier near-100-degree weekend setup outlined in Hoodline's previous forecast.
