TLC and Salt-N-Pepa will co-headline the It’s Iconic Tour at Toyota Pavilion at Concord on October 11, with En Vogue opening. The 7:30 p.m. show, with tickets starting at $52, is scheduled to conclude the tour’s 32-date North American run, Essence reported; The Mercury News reported the local ticket and start-time details.
An East Bay homecoming
For En Vogue, the Concord date brings the group near where it began. The group formed in Oakland in 1989 after producers Denzil Foster and Thomas McElroy held auditions for a female vocal group, according to BlackPast.org. En Vogue later recorded “Whatta Man” with Salt-N-Pepa; the 1993 collaboration reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and received a 1995 Grammy nomination, according to the Recording Academy.
The venue’s FAQ says concertgoers can take BART to Concord Station and use the free Corinthian Shuttle to reach the Pavilion, according to the Toyota Pavilion at Concord.
T-Boz’s appearance remains uncertain
TLC co-founder Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins was hospitalized during the tour and missed dates. Essence reported that the hospitalization followed a sickle-cell crisis and that bandmate Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas performed without her, with support from other tour performers. Whether Watkins will be able to join the Concord show has not been established.
Watkins also experienced a separate health episode in 2024: Essence reported that TLC canceled shows in Syracuse, New York, and at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut after she developed a severe abdominal blockage attributed to surgical scar tissue. That earlier incident does not establish what will happen at the October 11 performance.
