A former operations manager at Valley Christian High School in San Jose pleaded guilty this week to charges that he paid teenage boys for explicit photos and videos, then resold that material to buyers online. Todd Baldwin, described as a 46-year-old resident of Bremerton, Washington, admitted to two counts each of online child enticement and receiving child pornography, with a potential sentence ranging from 10 years to life in prison.
Guilty Plea Follows Years-Long Investigation
Baldwin pleaded guilty Tuesday, according to East Bay Times, closing out a case that began with his arrest by the San Jose Police Department in August 2023 and led to federal charges filed in November 2024. He also admitted to possessing child pornography and to enticing two other victims online in incidents that were not formally charged. An earlier report on the case, from San Jose Inside, had described Baldwin as a 44-year-old Bremerton resident and identified him as a former sports coach, teaching assistant and operations manager at the school; the discrepancy in his age between the two reports remains unresolved.
Court records described in the East Bay Times account detail how, from October 2021 through August 2023, Baldwin persuaded several boys to create explicit material using platforms including Gmail and Snapchat. He then paid four boys, ages 16 and 17, thousands of dollars through Cash App and Venmo for photos and videos. At least one of the victims met Baldwin through his job at the high school, per the same report.
Reselling Scheme Allegedly Included a Ring Light and Reddit Offer
Investigators say Baldwin did not stop at collecting the material for himself. He resold child pornography, along with dirty underwear and clothing he received from the boys, to buyers online. In October 2022, he allegedly approached one victim with an offer to sell explicit content on Reddit and split the proceeds, and he purchased a ring light to help produce the videos, paying two victims a total of around $6,315 for their participation.
The alleged reach of Baldwin's conduct may extend further than the charges filed. According to a report from Manly, Stewart & Finaldi, Baldwin allegedly admitted to similar conduct with two other boys, while police separately said they had uncovered electronic evidence suggesting three additional victims.
Case Investigated by Local and Federal Authorities
The case was investigated jointly by the San Jose Police Department's Internet Crimes Against Children Squad and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, per the East Bay Times report. Baldwin remains free on bond under home detention and electronic monitoring while he awaits sentencing, scheduled for January 26, 2027.
One of Baldwin's victims filed a civil lawsuit against Valley Christian High School in 2024; that case ended in a settlement in July 2025, though the terms of that settlement have not been disclosed in available reporting. As the criminal case moves toward sentencing, the fallout from Baldwin's time at the South Bay school continues to surface in parallel civil proceedings tied to the same underlying conduct.
