The home involved in an early Thursday police shooting is within South Fulton, although a Fairburn officer responded to the call, WSB-TV reported. South Fulton officers confirmed the location after arriving following the shooting, according to the station.
South Fulton police told WSB-TV that Fairburn officers were checking a report of a woman in the roadway shortly after midnight. Investigators said that when a door opened at the home, several dogs came toward an officer, who fired and struck the dogs and a man in the foot. Police had not provided an update on the dogs’ condition, the station reported.
A woman’s account published by Cedar News said an officer shot her husband and two dogs at the home. Cedar News noted that law enforcement had not confirmed the account or the circumstances she described.
The investigation was ongoing, WSB-TV reported. The station also reported that Georgia Bureau of Investigation personnel were at the scene and that it had sought comment from the Fairburn Police Department.
