Christ the King Lutheran Church in Fallbrook is marking a milestone this fall: its annual Fall Faire, a fixture of the town's autumn calendar, turns 40 years old on October 10. The event runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church's longtime home at 1620 S. Stage Coach Lane, and organizers say the day blends an artisan bazaar, games, a silent auction and raffle prizes with a cause that reaches well beyond the church parking lot.
The milestone comes as no surprise given the congregation's roots in the community. According to Village News, the Fall Faire has been held for more than 40 years, hosted by the church's Women's Ministry as a celebration of what organizers describe as creativity, community and generosity. Christ the King itself dates back to 1983, when a local gathering met in area schools before completing its permanent sanctuary on Stage Coach Lane in 1987, according to Christ the King Lutheran Church. The congregation has been affiliated with Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ since 2009 and reports an average attendance of 245, according to LCMC.
What's on Offer at the Bazaar
Per the Fall Faire's own listing, the artisan bazaar will feature handcrafted treasures, homemade jams and jellies, jarred specialties, frozen meals, baked goods and a cookie bar. Shoppers can also expect music, local vendors and food out on the patio, while the CTK Youth Café serves up breakfast, lunch and specialty coffees throughout the morning. The faire's mix of games, puzzles and early holiday shopping offers ways to get a jump on the season, while the church's Women's Ministry said the event brings the community together and turns community generosity into meaningful help for others.
Local businesses and artisans are invited to participate in this year's faire, with the church office fielding vendor inquiries at 760-728-3256. Vendor registration remains open through October 1.
Where the Money Goes
Proceeds from the Fall Faire are directed to six organizations serving individuals and families in need, spanning both hyper-local and global reach. One beneficiary, CareRite Vocational Services, operates the Hidden Treasures Thrift Store in Fallbrook, which provides job training, employment opportunities and community inclusion for adults with developmental disabilities, according to a Facebook post from the shop. Another, Hope Clinic for Women, has operated on East Hawthorne Street since 2005, per JustServe.
Faire proceeds also support the Center for Senior Wellbeing, Fallbrook Homeless Advocacy and Solutions for Change, a Vista-based nonprofit that runs an accountability-based residential recovery program for homeless families called Solutions Academy, according to CBS News 8. Fallbrook Homeless Advocacy, meanwhile, is led by local volunteers including retired teacher Brad Fox and works to assist unhoused residents in the village, the station separately reported.
Local Need Behind the Fundraising
The sixth beneficiary, Lutheran World Relief, extends the faire's reach internationally, working to address poverty, injustice and human suffering worldwide. Back home, though, the other five beneficiaries address needs in the community.
Fallbrook's demographics underscore the need for senior-focused programs like the Center for Senior Wellbeing. The church's footprint in Fallbrook extends beyond its weekend events, too.
Part of a Busier Fall Calendar
The Fall Faire isn't the only autumn draw in town this year. Fallbrook's Chamber of Commerce is hosting its own Harvest Faire on Main Avenue on October 18, adding to Fallbrook's fall calendar, according to The Coast News. For organizers at Christ the King, the 40th anniversary of their own faire remains a chance to combine handmade crafts and community fellowship with tangible support for neighbors facing real economic and health challenges across Fallbrook.
