A Cajun seafood boil chain is staking a claim on one of Zachary's busiest commercial corridors, with Fiery Crab Seafood Restaurant and Bar acquiring a nearly 10,400-square-foot building at 5755 Main St for a planned new location. The building most recently housed Lagniappe, another seafood restaurant, before it changed hands.
According to ELIFIN, the property sold in early September for $1.5 million, or $142.42 per square foot, to buyer Red Oak Property LLC. As WhatNow New Orleans reports, the deal was made according to Stirling Properties, and Fiery Crab plans to build out the acquired space, though the chain has not announced an official opening timeline. WhatNow reporter Brett Llenos Smith wrote that the outlet reached out for additional details on the project.
A Building With A Long Dining History
The 10,361-square-foot building has served Main Street diners for decades. Local business directory listings compiled by CMac list Ryan's Family Steak House at the address, while WBRZ identifies Lagniappe as the building's immediate former tenant.
The Zachary address at 5755 Main St, Zachary, LA 70791 sits within a corridor that has hosted sit-down dining for years, giving the new Fiery Crab a built-in customer base already accustomed to stopping there for a meal.
Expanding A Regional Footprint
The Zachary project builds on Fiery Crab's existing Capital Region presence, according to WhatNow. The chain already operates two current Capital Region locations in Baton Rouge, on Siegen Lane and Corporate Boulevard, and per WBRZ, it also runs neighboring regional outposts in Denham Springs, Hammond, and Gonzales. WhatNow New Orleans previously covered a Covington opening. The Zachary build-out would mark the chain's latest push to expand its footprint in the greater Baton Rouge area.
Fiery Crab traces its roots to Lafayette, Louisiana, where the concept built its identity around country low-boil seafood and family recipes, according to Lafayette Travel. Beyond boils, the chain is known for customizable seafood preparations and also offers po'boys and fried seafood baskets, giving it a broader menu than a boil-only concept.
Why Zachary Makes Sense For Growth
Zachary's population has climbed steadily, reaching an estimated 20,621 residents in 2025, up from 19,316 at the 2020 Census and 14,960 in 2010, according to Census figures cited by Swift Painting. Those figures point to a growing community along the Main Street corridor.
