Fogo de Chão officially fired up its grills at Northshore Mall on Monday, opening its newest Massachusetts location in Peabody with a pledge to donate 10% of its first week of sales to local hunger-relief charity Citizens Inn Haven From Hunger. The Brazilian steakhouse's arrival at 210 Andover St. adds a full-service, tableside-carving experience to a mall that has spent the summer stacking its dining lineup with national names.
The new restaurant spans roughly 6,184 square feet and was designed with global agency Harrison to include an open churrasco grill, a Market Table, an indoor Bar Fogo lounge, and private dining rooms, according to a company release distributed via GlobeNewswire. Peabody now marks Fogo de Chão's third Massachusetts restaurant, joining existing outposts in Back Bay Boston and at Burlington Mall. A fourth location is scheduled to open at South Shore Plaza in Braintree in spring 2027, continuing a regional expansion Hoodline previously flagged as coming to Braintree in August.
What Diners Will Find on the Menu
Beyond the chain's signature continuous tableside meat carving, the Peabody location's Bar Fogo offers menu items starting at $6, along with handcrafted caipirinhas and a $10 Picanha Burger, per the same GlobeNewswire release. The bar setup offers a social setting alongside the full churrasco dining room.
Fogo de Chão traces its roots to 1979 in Southern Brazil, where its founders built the concept around centuries-old churrasco open-flame cooking techniques practiced by gauchos, the release notes. The brand has grown to 122 locations worldwide as of May 2026.
Part of a Bigger Push at Northshore Mall
The Peabody opening is part of a broader summer 2026 dining push at Northshore Mall, which also brought fast-casual additions Dave's Hot Chicken and Shake Shack to the property's Promenade section, according to Itemlive. The Promenade itself was built during a multi-phase renovation that began in 2017, replacing enclosed mall corridors with exterior-facing restaurant patios and social gathering space, according to a Simon Property Group release.
Landlord Simon Property Group is continuing a multi-year master redevelopment of the mall, with future additions through 2027 expected to include a DICK's House of Sport and a Residence Inn by Marriott hotel, as reported by Connect CRE. Recent transformations at the property have already added a 116,000-square-foot Life Time Fitness.
New Jobs and a Split Commercial Picture
Job listings for the new Peabody restaurant included server and bartender positions and a churrasqueiro role, with projected annual compensation between $45,000 and $80,000-plus including base pay and tip pools.
The passage discusses Peabody's Route 114 corridor and historic Peabody Square over the summer. By clustering high-end sit-down concepts with fast-casual arrivals like Shake Shack and Dave's Hot Chicken, the mall operator appears to be adapting to shifting suburban dining habits.
