A cavernous former fish-processing warehouse at the Brooklyn Navy Yard is hosting House of Kong, an immersive exhibition marking 25 years of the virtual band. The exhibition is open through Monday, September 28, inside the Agger Fish Building at 299 Sands Street and explores the band's history.
The exhibition was created in collaboration with Gorillaz co-creators Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett and creative director Stephen Gallagher, whose studio SWEAR built the installation as an audio-visual artwork meant to chart the band's future, according to BrooklynVegan. The Brooklyn stop follows the exhibition's launch in London in fall 2025 and a later visit to Los Angeles, per FLOOD Magazine. As Time Out New York reports, Brooklyn marks the third stop on the exhibition's tour.
What's Inside The Agger Fish Building
Once inside, visitors encounter physical sets and prop recreations pulled from Gorillaz history, including a replica of the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro from the “Stylo” music video and a massive 3-D model of Plastic Beach, according to BKReader. Time Out New York notes that visitors enter the Navy Yard through the Sands Street gate and then walk about seven minutes to reach the exhibition itself. The walkthrough takes about an hour.
The exhibition is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., with final entry at 8:30 p.m.
Tickets, Merch, And A Navy Yard With A Track Record
Tickets start at $50 and must be bought online in advance — they are not sold at the exhibition door, per Time Out New York. Exiting through the gift shop yields exclusive House of Kong merchandise, including collectibles, posters, totes and vinyl available only at the exhibition itself.
The Agger Fish Building hosted the world premiere of the Brooklyn Youth Chorus's site-specific choral work Port(al) in May 2025, according to Musical America. The Navy Yard also drew more than 45,000 waitlisted viewers for artist Duke Riley's 2016 installation “Fly By Night,” which featured 2,000 LED-equipped homing pigeons, as Hoodline previously reported.
Timed To A Madison Square Garden Show
The Brooklyn run isn't happening in a vacuum. Gorillaz play Madison Square Garden on September 29, the day after House of Kong closes, making the Navy Yard exhibition a fitting warm-up for New York fans catching the band live. The stop also lands during Gorillaz's North American Mountain Tour, which kicked off September 17 at Orlando's Kia Center with openers Deltron 3030 and Little Simz in support of the band's ninth studio album, The Mountain — a launch Hoodline covered in its piece on the tour's Orlando kickoff.
The pairing of exhibition and concert isn't new for this anniversary campaign. During the Los Angeles leg in February, House of Kong ticket holders got priority presale access to two intimate concerts at The Palladium, where Gorillaz performed The Mountain in full, according to footage posted on the band's official YouTube channel.
For Brooklyn locals weighing a visit, the window is narrow. With the exhibition closing on Monday, September 28, anyone hoping to walk through Plastic Beach or stand next to the Stylo Camaro has only a few days left to grab a ticket online.
