Multiple gunshots were reported around 12:15 p.m. Friday at Edge Apartments on East Quincy Avenue in southeast Denver, prompting a heavy police response that included five squad cars, two lieutenants, a captain, and crime scene vehicles. As of Friday night, no arrests had been made, and the case remained an active investigation.
According to the Denver Police Dept., officers responded to a report of a disturbance at 1:25 p.m., about an hour after the reported gunfire, and the department confirmed there had been no arrests at that point. The apartment complex sits along East Quincy Avenue near the Denver-Arapahoe County line, in a stretch of Hampden that has been the site of other public safety scares in recent months, per Redfin property listings for the complex.

A Rough Stretch for Southeast Denver
The Edge Apartments incident is the latest in a string of violent disturbance calls to hit southeast Denver this year. On July 20, a dispute that began at an earlier event in Aurora escalated into a shooting outside Ultra Lounge on East Hampden Avenue, leaving one person dead and eight others injured, according to the Denver Gazette. Just three days before Friday's report at Edge Apartments, a morning shooting near North Oneida Street prompted Denver Public Schools to enforce a secure perimeter protocol at the nearby Denver School of the Arts while officers searched for suspects, the Gazette also reported.
The area has seen smaller-scale trouble as well. In March, a knife-involved disturbance on an RTD transit bus near East Quincy Avenue and South Atchison Way led to two arrests and left two responding officers with minor injuries, as Hoodline previously reported.
Homicides Climbing Citywide
Friday's report also lands amid a broader rise in violent crime across Denver this year. An analysis by the Common Sense Institute found the city recorded at least 35 homicides through July 20, a 46% increase over the 24 homicides tallied during the same period in 2025, reversing a 42% decrease in homicides the city had seen between 2024 and 2025, according to the Common Sense Institute.
To investigate non-fatal shootings and other major gun violence incidents, the department deploys its Firearm Assault Shoot Team, which posted a 67% clearance rate in 2025, Colorado Politics reported. The department has also credited its automated license plate reader network with assisting in 352 arrests and the recovery of 39 firearms and 251 vehicles that same year.
Whether shell casings, property damage, or other physical evidence of gunfire were confirmed at the Edge Apartments scene has not been disclosed, and the Denver Police Department's update characterized the call as an active disturbance investigation rather than a confirmed shooting with evidence recovered.
