A Honda CR-V went over an embankment and crashed onto the docks at Allenport Marina Saturday night, striking a dock-mounted gas pump along the Monongahela River. People at the scene were checked for injuries, and no major injuries were reported, per firefighters.
According to emergency dispatch details released by the Stockdale Volunteer Fire Department, crews were called to the marina at 7:26 p.m. on September 5 after the vehicle went off the roadway and onto the docks. As WPXI reported, the crash left the Honda CR-V lodged against the fuel pump before Bujanowski Towing removed the vehicle from the scene.
The fire department's report notes that its Utility 17 unit secured the crashed vehicle and the surrounding dock area. Bujanowski Towing removed the vehicle from the scene. RESA Regional Police is investigating the crash, per the same account.
A Marina Built for Boaters, Not Cars
Allenport Marina sits at 1933 Main Street in Allenport Borough, a commercial boating facility with 115 boat slips, 82 moorings, a fuel dock, an onsite restaurant and a tiki bar, according to Marinas.com. The facility is also listed as a public access point on the Mon River Water Trail, a regional recreational waterway network managed by the National Road Heritage Corridor along the Monongahela River.
The borough's riverfront geography helps explain how a vehicle could end up on the docks in the first place. Route 88 and active Norfolk Southern railroad tracks run parallel to the river atop steep embankments that drop directly down to the dock structures below, per the fire department's account of the scene.
A Familiar Stretch of Road
This is not the first time the roadway above the marina has factored into an emergency call. During a December 2025 winter storm, Stockdale Volunteer Fire Department firefighters responded to a car that slid off the icy roadway near the Allenport Marina entrance along Route 88, the Mon Valley Independent reported. The roadway above the marina has also appeared in earlier local emergency coverage.
What caused the driver of the CR-V to leave the roadway has not been disclosed, and it remains unclear whether any fuel spilled when the vehicle struck the gas pump. The extent of structural damage to the docks also has not been detailed ahead of the marina's continued boating season.
