Honolulu is waking up to windy conditions Saturday, with a blustery day ahead. Scattered showers and mostly cloudy skies will shape the weekend, with Saturday expected to be very windy and Sunday turning breezy.
The weather shift is being driven in part by Hurricane Nolo, which remains south of the Big Island and is expected to turn west. The latest update brings a more urgent wind message than earlier Hoodline coverage, with the strongest conditions expected over and downwind of Oahu’s terrain.
Saturday Brings Showers And A Windy Commute
Scattered showers and a 40% chance of rain are expected Saturday. Saturday will be very windy, making exposed roads, beach areas and outdoor setups notably rougher than usual.
The National Weather Service Honolulu forecast includes strong winds, with gusts up to 55 mph in Kohala on the Big Island.
Sunday Turns Breezy
Sunday should bring isolated showers before noon, followed by partly sunny skies and a high near 85 degrees. Winds are expected to remain very windy before turning breezy.
Overnight temperatures will remain warm, generally in the mid- to upper 70s. Residents should secure loose outdoor items, use extra care around trees and exposed ridgelines, and check conditions before heading to the coast this weekend.
