The composer behind some of Italian horror cinema's most unsettling soundtracks is bringing his live show to South St. Louis. Fabio Frizzi performs his Frizzi 2 Fulci concert at The Golden Record on October 8, 2026.
The St. Louis date is one stop on a sprawling autumn run across North America. According to STLPR, Frizzi 2 Fulci returns to St. Louis for a full concert showcasing the composer's celebrated works, featuring visual projections from the films. The tour launches September 23 in Brooklyn and spans more than 30 U.S. and Canadian markets before wrapping November 1 in Atlanta, as reported by BraveWords.
Notably, promotional listings for the tour bill it as Frizzi's one final tour across the United States with his F2F band, according to event pages on Eventbrite. That framing adds a note of urgency for local fans, since Frizzi has toured internationally with the Frizzi 2 Fulci stage show since 2013.
A 13-Year Tribute to a Horror Legend
Frizzi created the Frizzi 2 Fulci concept in 2013 as a tribute to director Lucio Fulci, premiering the project on Halloween night that year with a sold-out show at London's Union Chapel, per event details on El Corazón's site. The show was born to let Frizzi perform his film themes as standalone rock-prog arrangements rather than strict film accompaniment.
That tribute honors a 15-year creative partnership. Frizzi and Fulci worked together from 1975 to 1990, producing soundtracks for Italian horror and genre classics including The Four of the Apocalypse, Zombi 2, City of the Living Dead, and The Beyond, according to the Hyperreal Film Club.
Frizzi's scores are known for a distinctive sound built from progressive rock rhythms, synth-heavy scoring, and vocal and choir elements. The Beyond is also part of Frizzi's catalog.
From Cult Cinema to Kill Bill
Frizzi's catalog has reached far beyond Italian horror circles. Director Quentin Tarantino featured the main theme, known as 7 Note, from Frizzi's score for Fulci's 1977 thriller Sette Note in Nero in Kill Bill: Vol. 1, according to CultBox. The use placed one of Frizzi's 1970s compositions in Kill Bill: Vol. 1.
A Doom Metal Opener and a South Side Venue
Joining Frizzi as special guest is Ethan Lee McCarthy, who provides support on select dates. McCarthy is the guitarist, vocalist, and founder of Denver-based metal trio Primitive Man, known for an intensely heavy style blending funeral doom, noise, and sludge metal, according to Wikipedia. The band formed in 2012 and releases music through Relapse Records.
The pairing lands at The Golden Record, a 600-capacity live music space at 2720 Cherokee Street in St. Louis.
A Different Kind of Frizzi Show
Longtime fans should note this stop differs from previous tours that used full film screenings. The concert does not feature live scores performed alongside screenings of Fulci's films, unlike a past Cineconcert event that paired live music with a screening of The Beyond. Instead, the 2026 tour is built around a rock-prog stage concert accompanied by visual projections from the films.
