Raytown police were dispatched to the Casey's convenience store at 6024 Blue Ridge Boulevard on a report of a juvenile male with a gunshot wound, just west of the high school campus.
According to KCTV, the victim suffered serious injuries and was rushed to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Police have not announced any arrests, and the case remains an active investigation. KCTV reported that officers were dispatched at 1:21 p.m. Wednesday, meaning the shooting unfolded during school hours near campus.

Raytown C-2 School District asked students and staff inside Raytown High School to remain in place as a precaution and at police request while officers worked the scene just outside. The school ultimately dismissed students by 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, per the station's report.
