Light rain was falling across Kansas City early Sunday. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to remain part of the local forecast through the day.
Rain And Thunderstorms Continue Sunday
The National Weather Service forecast calls for rain, with northerly winds of 10 knots or less after a front moves through. Rainfall should generally be light, but a few stronger thunderstorms could develop, particularly south and southeast of the metro.
No watches, warnings or advisories were posted for Missouri or Kansas in the forecast. Even so, the weather service said it will continue monitoring rivers and quick-responding streams around the Kansas City area, especially if heavier showers briefly develop.
Cooler Weather Arrives Monday
Monday brings a noticeable step down in temperatures, with a high near 71 and a 30 to 40 percent chance of light rainfall mainly through late Monday morning and early Monday afternoon.
Mostly Dry Midweek Before Showers Return
Tuesday remains dry, with temperatures in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Wednesday also stays dry.
A slight chance of showers returns Thursday, when a weather system is expected.
