Kansas City Restaurant Week is coming back for its 18th year, and the event will once again connect metro diners with local charities.
As reported by FOX4KC, participating restaurants will pledge 10% of all menu sales to the event's charitable partners. The pledge directs support to those charitable partners.
The event's charities page lists Pete's Garden, the Visit KC Foundation, and the Greater KC Restaurant Association foundation as charitable organizations connected to the event.
Pete's Garden Steps In As Featured Beneficiary
For 2027, the spotlight charity is Pete's Garden, a Kansas City food recovery nonprofit founded in 2019 by Tamara Weber, who left her job at Hallmark. The organization rescues unused prepared food from commercial caterers and venue kitchens, according to KCUR, repackaging it into free take-home family dinners rather than distributing raw groceries.
The group's reach was on full display this past summer, when it recovered surplus food connected to the 2026 FIFA World Cup events in Kansas City, converting the leftovers into meals for Kansas City families, per Inside FIFA.
A Track Record of Six-Figure Donations
Kansas City Restaurant Week diners and restaurants have raised more than $4.5 million for local nonprofits and community causes across the event's 17-year history, according to FOX4KC. Recent years show just how consistent those payouts have become for whichever charity is chosen.
In 2025, the event gave more than $125,000 to a local charity, according to Kansas City Magazine. A year earlier, in 2024, the event generated $101,608 for Kanbe's Markets, a nonprofit that places fresh produce in corner stores across Kansas City food deserts at no upfront cost to merchants. Hoodline previously reported on Kanbe's goal of expanding to 130 participating stores.
Why January, and Who Can Sign Up
Kansas City Restaurant Week was established by Visit KC and the Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association. The event's January schedule falls during the post-holiday winter period.
Kansas City's version now spans more than 200 participating dining establishments across the bi-state metro, covering both urban core venues and suburban dining districts.
Early-bird registration is already open for restaurants. Restaurants with Visit KC membership or Greater KC Restaurant Association membership receive free early-bird registration, while other local businesses planning to participate get a discounted early-bird rate.
What Diners Can Expect on the Menu
As in past years, KC Restaurant Week will offer multicourse menus at exclusive prices across four tiers: $20, $40, $50, and $65. The fixed-course format gives diners a range of price points.
Beyond the charitable angle, organizers frame the week as direct support for the restaurant industry. Restaurants interested in joining the 2027 lineup should watch for registration details as the event approaches.
