The nighttime rules bar costumes and face coverings that conceal a visitor's identity and sit alongside the park's broader code of conduct, which bans clothing bearing offensive language, obscene gestures or graphics, or nudity, and requires clothing to sufficiently cover undergarments.
Jason Voorhees Slashes His Way Into a New Attraction
The new Jason: Blood Reign attraction puts Jason Voorhees at the center of this year's lineup. The Enquirer reports that the experience is being produced with Horror, Inc., which owns the Friday the 13th franchise and has introduced what it calls the Jason Universe, an expanding lineup of games, merchandise and shows tied to the character. Kings Island is one of three Six Flags parks in the country receiving Jason: Blood Reign this season, according to the report.
Halloween Haunt is built around two iconic horror franchises this year, pairing the new Jason attraction with the returning Conjuring: Beyond Fear, based on New Line Cinema's Conjuring universe. Inside that maze, visitors navigate scenes featuring the Nun, the Crooked Man and the Ferryman before attempting to lock Annabelle back in her box, the outlet reports.
What You Can and Can't Wear After Dark
The identity-concealment rule is the centerpiece of Kings Island's nighttime dress code, and it applies broadly to costumes and face coverings alike. Some rides also restrict attire beyond the general costume policy, though specifics on which rides or what restrictions apply were not detailed in the report.
Kings Island's broader rules include an exception for masks intended to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and other germs, according to the park's Code of Conduct. Visitors should also note that guests age 15 or younger must be accompanied by someone at least 21 years old when the chaperone policy is in effect.
Daytime visitors get more creative freedom. Tricks and Treats, the park's daytime Halloween event, includes a costume contest and trick-or-treating for children, and family-friendly themed attire is allowed as long as it conforms to the general dress code. No Refunds for Rule-Breakers
Visitors turned away for violating the costume policy shouldn't expect their money back. Halloween Haunt does not refund tickets to guests denied admission for breaking the costume rules, the Enquirer reports, making it worth double-checking planned outfits before heading to the park gates Thursday.
