Temperatures will climb through the 90s Friday. The National Weather Service in Morristown says northerly winds will be around 5 knots after sunrise, offering little relief from the heat.
Friday night will be quieter but still warm, with a low near 71. A 20% chance of precipitation is forecast Friday night.
Weekend Storm Chances Stay Spotty
Knoxville McGhee Tyson Airport is forecast to reach 94 degrees on Saturday, September 19, 2026, with more cloud cover and scattered showers and storms possible. The National Weather Service gives a 30% chance of precipitation Saturday, with afternoon and early-evening storms possible.
Sunday remains hot near 92 degrees, with afternoon showers and thunderstorms possible after 2 p.m. Monday brings slightly lower temperatures, with isolated to scattered storms possible early in the week.
More Noticeable Relief Arrives Tuesday
A more notable temperature drop and possibly more widespread precipitation could occur Tuesday, then temperatures fall Wednesday.
Thursday also looks cooler. The new outlook builds on Hoodline’s earlier Knoxville forecast, extending the hot stretch before the midweek cooldown.
Heat Safety Still Matters
No watches or warnings are listed for the Knoxville area, and forecasters do not expect severe weather. Even so, lightning, brief heavy rain and gusty winds are possible in isolated storms, while Friday’s heat calls for water, shade and regular breaks outdoors.
