Las Vegas is expected to see mostly sunny skies Wednesday, with gusty winds developing by midmorning. Sunshine will dominate, but the bigger story is the wind, with gusts nearing 30 mph this afternoon as temperatures climb to about 96 degrees.
According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, southeasterly winds will shift to southerly or south-southwesterly winds during the day. Gusts could remain strong into Wednesday evening, while cloud cover may keep overnight temperatures elevated.
Afternoon Winds Pick Up
Las Vegas proper should stay sunny and mostly dry Wednesday. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are more likely across eastern Clark County, Lincoln County and northwestern Arizona, where lightning, sudden wind shifts and brief heavy rain could develop.
Thursday is forecast to remain dry in Las Vegas, with south-southwesterly gusts generally between 25 and 35 mph through Thursday, with occasional gusts to 40 mph in higher terrain.
Another Stretch Of Mid-90s Ahead
Friday and Saturday may bring increased thunderstorm chances, with highs near 100 to 102 degrees. Sunday may see highs around 104 to 105 degrees, and highs from Sunday through Wednesday are forecast to remain around 104 to 105 degrees.
Outdoor plans should account for the gusts as well as the heat, especially around exposed areas, pool decks and elevated spaces. Secure loose items before the afternoon wind arrives, and keep water handy even when the dry air makes the temperature feel deceptively manageable.
