Two masked men forced their way into a home on the 600 block of Locust Avenue last Friday, zip-tying eight people at gunpoint before making off with cash, jewelry, and a stash of gold. One victim suffered minor injuries in the ordeal, and the suspects remain at large.
Police responded to the Lochbuie residence on September 18 after reports of a home invasion, according to investigators cited by CBS Colorado. Doorbell camera footage reviewed by investigators shows two male suspects entering the home through the front door, the outlet reports. Once inside, the pair held all eight occupants at gunpoint and restrained them with zip ties, their hands bound behind their backs, before ransacking the home for valuables.
The haul included money, wallets, purses, and what police described as a large quantity of gold jewelry, per the same account. One suspect was seen carrying a handgun during the invasion. The men were last seen walking away from the scene, and investigators believe one of them used an e-bike to leave the area.
Victim Count Revised as Investigation Continued
The scope of the crime grew clearer in the days following the invasion. Police initially reported that at least six people were inside the home during the robbery before revising the official count to eight victims held at gunpoint, according to 9News. Both suspects are described only as adult males wearing dark clothing, face masks, and gloves, leaving few identifying details for the public to go on.
Lochbuie Police Chief Tracey McCoy said this week that investigators believe the invasion was a targeted attack on that specific residence rather than a random act tied to a broader threat against the community, 9News reported. The chief's assessment offers some reassurance to nearby residents.
The invasion also comes as violent and property crime have been trending downward across the state. Statewide data from the Colorado Division of Criminal Justice shows robbery fell 23.9% and burglary dropped 18.5% in 2025 compared to the year before, a decline touted by the Governor's Office as evidence of multi-year public safety investments paying off.
Potential Felony Exposure If Suspects Are Caught
Should the suspects be identified and arrested, they could face steep charges under Colorado law. Robbery committed with a deadly weapon separately qualifies as aggravated robbery under state law, another Class 3 felony classified as an “extraordinary risk” crime subject to enhanced sentencing.
The victims were bound with zip ties during the robbery. The Weld County District Attorney's Office secured a 27-year sentence in a 2018 case involving first-degree burglary and second-degree kidnapping.
