Construction is officially underway on a new Lowe's at Silverstone Marketplace in Frederick, Colorado, with the home improvement chain breaking ground on a 95,000-square-foot store expected to open by summer 2027. The project sits at 5701 Silverstone Drive near Colorado Boulevard and Highway 52, and it comes after months of debate over how much taxpayer money the town should spend to land it.
As reported by WhatNow, Lowe's broke ground alongside Town of Frederick officials, development partners and community representatives. The store is expected to create approximately 150 local jobs, according to the town, and will include a 30,000-square-foot outdoor garden area in addition to the usual aisles of building supplies, hardware, tools, appliances, paint, flooring, plumbing products and lawn and garden items. Lowe's also says it plans to get involved locally through volunteer efforts, improvement projects and support for area nonprofits.

A $12.36 Million Bet on Big-Box Retail
In March, the Town of Frederick Board of Trustees approved Resolution 26-R-07 and Ordinance 1411, a public finance agreement that grants Lowe's a $12.36 million sales tax reimbursement over 20 years, according to the Town of Frederick Board of Trustees. BizWest reported that officials were set to review an incentives package.
The formal groundbreaking ceremony took place on August 13, according to the Town of Frederick. The incentive package was part of the town's efforts to attract Lowe's.
Frederick's Fast-Growing Retail Corridor
Once construction wraps in 2027, the Frederick location will become Lowe's 30th store in Colorado, expanding the chain's presence across the Front Range. Lowe's already operates in Northglenn and Westminster, as well as in Brighton, Erie, Fort Collins, Longmont and Loveland, rounding out its Northern Colorado footprint.
Silverstone Marketplace is a growing development, according to developer Evergreen Devco Inc. The center is anchored by King Soopers and has attracted tenants including Five Guys and Cold Stone Creamery.
Roads Built to Handle the Growth
Supporting all that new retail required serious infrastructure work. Galloway Architecture, Engineering & Survey lists Silverstone Marketplace among its projects.
The push for more retail tracks with Frederick's rapid population growth. Upstate Colorado Economic Development lists the town's population at 16,936 and describes its growth as rapid, according to Upstate Colorado Economic Development. The town has offered incentives in pursuit of anchor retailers like Lowe's.
