A man was slashed in the left arm during a machete attack in the 1000 block of Franklin Avenue on September 20, and New Orleans police say they've now identified the person responsible but still need the public's help tracking him down. The suspect reportedly ran off immediately after the attack.
According to the New Orleans Police Department, the victim reported being attacked by a machete-wielding subject, sustaining an injury to the left arm before the attacker took off. NOPD says the pictured individual has been identified through the investigation as the perpetrator of the attack. The department is asking anyone with information to come forward.
A separate report from WDSU describes New Orleans police searching for a man accused of attacking another man with a machete, in an incident the station says happened on Dauphine Street on a Friday around 2:25 a.m. It is not established whether that report refers to the same attack described in the Franklin Avenue case or a separate incident entirely.

NOPD is asking anyone with information about the pictured subject to contact detectives at (504) 658-6050. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through CrimeStoppers, which allows callers to remain unidentified throughout the process. As with any active investigation, all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Part of a Pattern of Public Appeals
This is not the first time this year that NOPD has turned to the public for help in an aggravated-battery case. In April, the department made a similar request when it was asking the public's assistance with locating a suspect wanted for aggravated battery by stabbing, per the department's own account. The department has issued comparable appeals in past years as well, including a 2018 search for a subject in a Fifth District aggravated second-degree battery case and a 2023 case in which NOPD announced it had obtained an arrest warrant for a suspect identified as Qween B. Amor following an aggravated battery earlier that October.
