A man died and two others were hospitalized after a fight between two groups spilled into gunfire on the 1900 block of Market Street, according to an update from Denver police. Investigators say preliminary information indicates the shooting grew out of a confrontation between two groups whose dispute escalated into gunfire, leaving one adult male victim dead and two more adult male victims in stable condition.

This is not the first time the 1900 block of Market Street has seen a fight between rival groups turn into a shooting. In May 2025, 25-year-old Carlos Lujan remained in custody for investigation of four counts of attempted first-degree murder after a physical altercation between two groups on the same block wounded four people. Investigators in that case used ShotSpotter acoustic gunshot detection and Flock Automated License Plate Readers, per CBS News.
The block's history runs deeper still. In September 2023, a dispute over ID entry outside a venue on the same stretch of Market Street escalated into a shooting that injured five bystanders, a case that ended with the January 2025 sentencing of teenager Keanna Rosenburgh to seven years in the youthful offender system, according to 9News. The latest fatality lands amid a citywide surge in killings that has alarmed officials even as other crime categories have fallen.
