A 37-year-old man was shot and killed just after midnight at Kirby Estates Apartments on Kirby Road in Robinsonville, Mississippi, marking the latest deadly shooting at a complex that has repeatedly made headlines for gun violence over the past several years. Deputies found Antonio Marquese Jasper suffering from gunshot wounds after responding to a report of a shooting at the property, and the Tunica County coroner pronounced him dead at the scene.
The Tunica County Sheriff's Office confirmed the shooting, according to FOX13 Memphis, which reported that a man was shot and killed at the Robinsonville apartment complex. Deputies responded to Kirby Estates Apartments just after midnight, per the outlet's report citing the sheriff's office, and the investigation into the killing remains ongoing. No suspect information has been released as authorities continue working the case.
A Complex With a Troubled History
Jasper's death is not an isolated event at 2669 Kirby Road. The same complex was the scene of a fatal shooting on September 2, 2024, when 38-year-old Vandarren McCray was shot multiple times and killed, a case that led to murder and conspiracy charges against three men after deputies executed search warrants there, according to the Tunica County Sheriff's Office. Less than a year later, on November 22, 2025, a 16-year-old boy suffered multiple gunshot wounds at the same address and was airlifted to a regional hospital, prompting an attempted murder warrant for a 15-year-old suspect.
The pattern stretches back further still. In February 2023, 44-year-old repeat offender Korea McKay fatally shot Davao Thomas at Kirby Estates after Thomas asked him to slow down his vehicle in the complex, a case that ended with McKay sentenced to 15 years in federal prison on ammunition charges last year, per the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Mississippi. Just months before that, in May 2023, four people were wounded in a shooting at the complex that reportedly stemmed from a physical altercation, as reported by local outlets covering deputies' response to reports of gunfire. And in October 2020, 18-year-old Trevon Bell was shot and killed at Kirby Estates, a case that concluded with 26-year-old Quinterrance Vardaman sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter.
Second Fatal Shooting Near Robinsonville in a Month
Jasper's killing also comes less than a month after another young Robinsonville man's violent death made local headlines. On August 9, 18-year-old high school senior Justin Davis was found shot to death in a wooded area adjacent to a Robinsonville apartment complex, a case Hoodline previously covered in reward offered after overnight chase. The two cases remain separate investigations, but together they underscore a stretch of deadly gun violence in the small Tunica County community this summer.
Public court records add another layer of local relevance to Jasper's death. Antonio Marquese Jasper, also known as “Mac-T,” was previously convicted of first-degree murder by a Tunica County jury in April 2019 for the December 2017 fatal shooting of Jeremy Jones at a Robinsonville Waffle House, and sentenced to life in prison. In August 2020, the Mississippi Court of Appeals reversed and remanded that conviction. The circumstances and motive behind Jasper's own shooting death this week remain under investigation, and it is not yet known whether that earlier case has any connection to what happened at Kirby Estates.
