A man was shot and hospitalized Friday night after police say an attempted robbery near MLK Coin Laundry & Market turned into a shootout in southwest Atlanta's Harland Terrace neighborhood. Officers found the victim conscious and alert at the scene before he was taken to a hospital for further treatment.
Atlanta police officers responded around 6:56 p.m. to the 2800 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW, where they found the man suffering from gunshot wounds, according to FOX 5 Atlanta. Police believe an attempted robbery led to the shootout at the location, though as of the station's report, investigators had not released the victim's identity, named a suspect, provided a suspect description, or announced any arrests connected to the incident.
A Block With a Long, Violent History
The address was also the site of an April 2022 robbery in which a man was shot to death and an April 2019 shooting that killed one person and wounded another.
The Atlanta Police Department's own records confirm that homicide detectives responded to the same address on April 20, 2022, to investigate that fatal attempted robbery.
