A man was rushed to the hospital with gunshot wounds Saturday evening after a shooting on the 1400 block of Levick Street in Oxford Circle, Philadelphia police said. Officers responded to the scene around 5:56 p.m., and as of the latest update, the victim's condition remains unknown. No arrests have been made, and police say they have not determined a motive.
The shooting is under investigation, according to NBC10 Philadelphia, which reported the incident. Police have not released the identity of the man who was shot, and no weapon has been recovered in connection with the case, per the outlet's account.
This is not the first time gunfire has struck this stretch of Levick Street this year. In March, a 23-year-old suspect was named in an active arrest warrant after 35-year-old Vaswani Brown, a resident of the very same 1400 block, was fatally shot in the torso after an argument, according to Delaware Valley News. Brown was pronounced dead at Jefferson Torresdale Hospital shortly after that shooting.
A Corridor With a Troubled Recent History

Research from The Pew Charitable Trusts has found that even as citywide numbers fall, shootings remain concentrated in specific low-income areas, with Black and Hispanic residents accounting for 92% of shooting victims between 2022 and 2024, and 38% of all shooting incidents occurring in just a dozen neighborhoods.

When no suspect is caught immediately, investigators can face difficulty bringing charges. The consequences can be serious when someone intentionally causes bodily injury with a deadly weapon.
