State enforcement offers separate context
The county action is distinct from statewide enforcement. The Florida Gaming Control Commission reported seizing $14,474,336 and 6,725 illegal slot machines in enforcement actions against illegal casinos in 2025, compared with $7,110,613 and 1,287 machines in 2024. Those figures describe seizures, not the number of operating venues.
A separate example came in Tavares: the commission said in its announcement that its agents and Tavares police shut down two illegal casinos there in February 2025 and seized 125 illegal gambling machines and $62,051.61. The operation took place in another city.
