A man was found on the ground suffering from apparent gunshot wounds Tuesday afternoon after police say an altercation between two men inside a vehicle in Manteca turned violent, with one man allegedly shooting the other before speeding off and leaving the victim behind. The suspected shooter was later tracked down and arrested across town in Stockton.
According to the Manteca Police Department, officers responded around 12:43 p.m. Tuesday to the 200 block of North Union Road after receiving a report that a vehicle had driven into a park near the Manteca Park Golf Course and may have been involved in a collision. When officers arrived, they found a man on the ground with apparent gunshot wounds. He was hospitalized, though police have not released his current condition.
Altercation Inside the Car Turns Deadly Serious
Investigators said the two men were involved in an altercation inside the vehicle before one allegedly shot the other and fled the scene in the same car, leaving the victim behind on North Union Road. A firearm was found in the street, per the department's account relayed to the same outlet.
