A brand-new, 10-story health center has opened beside VTA's Bascom Station in San Jose, putting primary care, pediatrics, imaging and a pharmacy just steps from the light rail platform. The 230,000-square-foot facility at 1410 S. Bascom Ave. serves patients with those services.

, the new Valley Health Center San Jose was already open as of Wednesday, with the transit agency touting how the adjacent Bascom Station would make it easier for riders to reach appointments.

said the clinic wasn't scheduled to open until September 28. The two accounts don't line up, and it isn't clear from available information which date is accurate — patients hoping to visit should confirm directly with Santa Clara Valley Healthcare before showing up.

Years in the Making
The project traces back to October 2023, when developer PMB and Santa Clara Valley Healthcare broke ground on what was then described as a 10-story, 230,000-square-foot medical office building, according to a release from PMB. That announcement projected construction would wrap by late 2025 and placed the health center within a larger mixed-use Bascom Station master plan that also includes 590 residential units.
Construction reached a milestone in May 2024, when PMB and Santa Clara Valley Healthcare celebrated the topping-off of the building, according to a release distributed via PR Newswire. That announcement also called the facility the 10th local Valley Health Center serving Santa Clara County and reiterated that the site sits at the Bascom Station light rail stop along Southwest Expressway.
