A Growing Local Brand
The Melt Yard is hosting a Ghostbusters-inspired pop-up.
The Melt Yard has operated in Marietta since 2022 with co-owner Matt DeBusschere, previously general manager of Atlanta's Sun in My Belly, alongside co-owner Justin Wilfon, a former WSB-TV news anchor. The venue's retro aesthetic centers on a vintage van converted into a bar, according to Atlanta Magazine. That same reporting notes the restaurant later converted a private dining space into Melt Yard Arcade in March 2024, installing 14 to 15 retro pinball machines and classic cabinets.
The arcade's machines are curated and maintained in partnership with Marietta Kingpins, a local arcade restoration company, according to a report from the Southern-Fried Gaming Expo. The arcade also hosts pinball tournaments, per IFPA Pinball.
Beyond the Slime: A Restaurant on the Move
Ghostbusters is part of The Melt Yard's nostalgia playbook.
The restaurant is also expanding well beyond its original Whitlock Avenue footprint. Co-owners DeBusschere and Wilfon have signed a lease to open a second location inside an old car dealership at 300 West Memorial Drive in downtown Dallas, Georgia, with an opening expected in 2026, according to Vicki Morris.
