A Memphis woman was shot in the buttock while shielding her 11-year-old son from gunfire during a domestic dispute this spring, and police say Deandre Herron, accused in the shooting, has now been arrested. Deandre Herron, 33, faces attempted second-degree murder and a string of other charges after the April shooting near Pendleton Street and Waverly Avenue.
According to Action News 5, Memphis police responded to a shooting call in the area on April 22 that stemmed from an aggravated assault and domestic violence incident between Herron and his girlfriend. Police records say Herron pulled a gun on the woman during a verbal argument, and per those same records, he fired at least four shots.
The woman was struck in the upper part of her right buttock while shielding her son from the gunfire, according to the police affidavit. Gunfire also struck a neighbor’s property during the incident, per the report.
Charges Stack Up Alongside a Prior 2024 Case
Herron is now charged with attempted second-degree murder, reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, two counts of convicted felon in possession of a firearm, aggravated assault, and two counts of domestic assault involving bodily harm. He was also charged in March 2024 with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, aggravated assault and domestic assault involving bodily harm, and a grand jury indicted him on those charges in July 2026.
He is being held on a $300,000 bond, an amount tied to both the 2024 incident and the current charges, the station reports. A December 2024 Shelby County wanted-persons listing from Memphis Most Wanted covered fugitives with active warrants as of December 5, 2024, and marked Herron as “ARRESTED” in an entry for aggravated assault and prohibited-weapons offenses.
A Pattern of Prior Gun Allegations
This is not the first time Herron has faced allegations involving gunfire directed at women. In a 2022 incident, he was accused of firing several shots at his girlfriend and her sister outside an Econo Lodge motel on Aug. 28, with police saying at the time that no one was injured, according to a separate Action News 5 report. In that case, Herron reportedly told the woman, “I am going to kill you and your sister,” and was ultimately charged with one count of aggravated assault as a Class A misdemeanor and five counts of aggravated assault as a Class C felony.
A separate shooting in the Parkway Village area also named Herron as a suspect after gunfire struck two homes, with one report indicating seven people were inside one of the residences at the time, according to wreg.com. In that case, Herron was charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and numerous counts of aggravated assault.
Taken together, the cases describe a recurring pattern of firearm and domestic-violence allegations against Herron spanning 2022, 2024 and now 2026, though the available record does not resolve how each earlier case concluded. In an unrelated but comparable case out of West Memphis, a man named Shane White received an effective 20-year sentence after a jury found him guilty of offenses including aggravated assault with a firearm and offenses committed in the presence of a child, according to the NEA Report.
