A Heat Advisory will add an extra warning to an already relentless stretch of late-summer heat.
Afternoon Heat Peaks During Advisory
The Heat Advisory runs from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, when the official warning calls for heat-index values up to 106. The local forecast reaches 95 degrees around midday and 99 during the midafternoon, with light south winds offering little relief.
According to the National Weather Service Memphis office, residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in air conditioning when possible, avoid prolonged time in the sun and check on relatives and neighbors. Outdoor work and exercise will be safest early in the morning or after sunset, though Tuesday night will remain warm.
Little Rain Relief In Sight
Tuesday night should stay mostly clear, with temperatures falling only to about 78 degrees and heat-index values still reaching near 103. Rain chances remain very low through Wednesday, when another sunny 99-degree day is expected.
A weak disturbance could bring isolated showers from Thursday into the weekend, but forecasters expect little meaningful rainfall. That leaves Memphis facing continued heat and mostly dry conditions, which could further strain already dry areas.
Triple-Digit Feels Like Temperatures Continue
The hot pattern continues into Thursday and Friday, both forecast to reach about 99 degrees, followed by a 98-degree Saturday and another 99-degree Sunday. Labor Day should be slightly cooler at 97 degrees, but it will still be a hot day for outdoor plans.
This is a sharper update to Hoodline's earlier heat outlook, with the new advisory putting Tuesday's conditions squarely in the danger zone. A front arriving Sunday may lower humidity enough to ease the need for additional heat headlines by Monday, even if temperatures remain stubbornly summerlike.
