A chef who helped put Indian fine dining on London's Michelin map is bringing his cooking to Plano for three nights next weekend. Atul Kochhar, a twice Michelin-starred chef, will cook a trio of dinners at Jashan from October 3 through October 5, with tickets ranging from $140 to $225 depending on the night.
According to CultureMap Dallas, Kochhar will cook three very different dinners at Jashan alongside owner Prasanna Singaraju. Singaraju is described as Jashan's chef, founder, and president, and has said Kochhar helped inspire him to run a restaurant in the first place.
Three Nights, Three Very Different Menus
The first dinner, on October 3, will see Kochhar create a seven-course tasting menu that replaces Jashan's usual Jashan 101 and Taste of India tasting menus for the evening. Tickets for that dinner are $140.
On October 4, a Sunday Supper will be prepared by Singaraju alongside Kochhar, Akshraj Jodha, Ashish Bhasin, and Ramesh Thangaraj, per the same report. That dinner is capped at 60 guests, with tickets priced at $160.
The final night, October 5, is the most intimate of the three. Kochhar and Singaraju will cook a Dil Se dinner for just 20 guests — Dil Se translates to “from the heart” — with tickets priced at $225, the outlet notes.
The Chef Behind the Michelin Star
Kochhar became the first Indian chef to earn a Michelin star in 2001, when London's Tamarind restaurant received the honor, according to CultureMap Dallas. He later opened Benares in London, which opened in 2002 and earned its own Michelin star in 2006, per Great British Chefs; that outlet also reports that Kochhar later parted ways with Benares and opened Kanishka in Mayfair in early 2019.
Kochhar's website describes him as the pioneering twice Michelin-starred chef and states that his restaurant group now operates Sindhu and Vaasu in Marlow along with Hawkyns in Amersham, according to atulkochhar.com.
Jashan's Quick Rise in Plano
Jashan opened in Plano on November 13, 2025, according to The Dallas Morning News, which identified Singaraju as the restaurant's owner and Ramesh Thangaraj as its executive chef. The restaurant has since built out a menu built around multiple formats — a tasting menu served near an open demonstration kitchen, an à la carte menu, and a shorter tasting option — according to D Magazine, which also reported that Jashan's Dil Se menu changes roughly every 60 days.
CultureMap Dallas lists Jashan at 7401 Lone Star Dr., B120, in Plano's Legacy North development, and Local Profile also places it in Legacy North. Local Profile describes the Dil Se tasting menu at various points as a 7- or 13-course experience, while D Magazine reports that the menu is priced at $175.
Jashan has more information and reservations available on its own website, per CultureMap Dallas's report on the Kochhar collaboration.
