Smoke & Honey will close after service Sunday at 3301 Bienville St., ending the Greek and Jewish restaurant's three-year run in New Orleans' Mid-City neighborhood.
The restaurant announced the closure on social media, according to WDSU. Smoke & Honey opened its brick-and-mortar location in January 2024 after founder Vassiliki Ellwood Yiagazis developed the concept from a pandemic-era pop-up, according to nola.com. The restaurant combined Greek and Jewish cooking in its Mid-City location.
One Last Week of Service
The owners said customers could visit during the final week, with service running Wednesday through Sunday, according to WDSU. “Come visit us this week: Wednesday-Sunday as we wrap it up,” they wrote.
Rather than a quiet farewell, the team is closing out with a celebration. Owners planned a lamb party for the weekend of Sept. 26 and 27, with lamb and ouzo on the menu as the send-off centerpiece. Per the same account, the owners said they were “throwing down on a big lamb party this weekend the 26th & 27th and going out the only way I know how…with a lamb and an ouzo.”

In the closure announcement, the owners reflected on building Smoke & Honey and sharing memories with the New Orleans community, describing that experience as an honor and saying it helped contribute to the city's joy, family and friendships.
The closure comes amid broader movement in New Orleans' restaurant scene. An Axios roundup counted more than 50 restaurant openings and closures across the city so far in 2026.
Smoke & Honey's final service is scheduled for Sunday, following the restaurant's last Wednesday-through-Sunday service week and the lamb-and-ouzo event planned for Sept. 26 and 27.
