A Milford resident woke up before dawn last Sunday to find a stranger standing in their bedroom, according to police. The intruder had already slipped out of the house by the time officers arrived, kicking off a search that ended hours later with a struggle and an arrest just blocks away.
Milford police responded to the home on Christina Road at about 4:15 a.m. Sunday after receiving a report of an intruder, according to a police statement cited by MassLive. The caller told police they had awoken to find a man in their bedroom, and investigators say the suspect had gotten inside through an unlocked garage door, according to the Milford Police Department, before making his way there.
By the time officers reached the house, the suspect was already gone, per the same report. Police believe he left the property before the first patrol cars pulled up, leaving investigators to canvass the area for any sign of him.
Neighbor's Call Leads Police to Suspect
The break in the case came about three hours later. A neighbor called police around 7 a.m. to report seeing a man matching the suspect's description walking on South Central Street, as reported by MassLive. That tip sent officers to the area, where they located and approached the man.
As noted by the Milford Police Department, the suspect tried to flee when officers moved in, but was caught and arrested after a short struggle. He was identified as 24-year-old Bruno Ramos.
Multiple Charges Filed Against Ramos
Ramos now faces a string of charges stemming from the encounter. He was charged with breaking and entering into a building at nighttime to commit a felony, the most serious count tied to the alleged bedroom intrusion, the article notes.
He also faces charges of assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest, stemming from the struggle that ended his attempted getaway on South Central Street. Rounding out the charge sheet are counts of disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace, Milford Police Department reported via Milford Police Department.
