State Patrol Chief and Colonel Christina Bogojevic said the headquarters will give employees the tools they need to do their jobs safely and effectively, according to the same Pioneer Press report. Bogojevic added that Minnesota needs the space, technology, and resources to coordinate responses to critical incidents. The new complex is expected to include dedicated and secure evidence processing and storage, along with modern classrooms and training spaces, per the article.
How the Roseville Site Came Together
The state purchased the 15-acre Roseville property at 1500 Minnesota Highway 36 from Wellington Management Co. and Dennis Properties LLC for $13.42 million on June 30, 2025, according to Traded. Land acquisition and design costs for the project totaled $22.5 million, while construction is budgeted at $97 million, the Pioneer Press report notes. The Minnesota Legislature approved funding for both the land and the facility across 2024 and 2025, and state leaders have described the effort as bipartisan.
The site previously held office buildings, including buildings that housed the Minnesota Department of Education until 2022. National American University signage remains on one building, per the Roseville Reader's reporting. The property sits directly behind a Roseville Target store. Before construction could begin, the Minnesota Department of Administration solicited bids in early 2026 for hazardous material design and asbestos remediation to prepare the aging 1955 structures for demolition, according to HigherGov procurement records.

Roseville Mayor Dan Roe said the city's central metro location makes it an ideal spot for the project, according to the Pioneer Press. Roe added that Roseville is well suited to house an organization with a statewide mission — a notable endorsement given that the State Patrol now has more than 2,400 employees working across law enforcement, crime victim assistance, traffic safety, alcohol and gambling regulation, emergency communications, fire safety, pipeline safety, driver licensing, vehicle registration, and emergency management.
