The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help finding a missing 17-year-old girl from Penfield. Amya Hester was last seen leaving her residence on foot Monday evening around 7:15 p.m., wearing an all-gray sweatsuit, and has not been located since.
According to 13WHAM, deputies describe Hester as standing about 5 feet tall and weighing approximately 100 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. The outlet reports that the sheriff's office said Hester is known to frequent the city of Rochester, a detail that could help narrow the search beyond Penfield itself. Authorities told the station there is no reason to believe she is in any danger.
Conflicting Reports Raise Questions
Not every local account matches. RochesterFirst similarly reported that Hester was last seen leaving her Penfield home Monday evening, aligning with the 7:15 p.m. timeframe and the gray sweatsuit description.
A separate report from WHEC, however, describes a different missing-persons case tied to a Penfield Road group home, naming an Amya Hester alongside two other teens, Jamotti Fulton and Paris Ford. That account lists Hester's age as 14, not 17, and describes her as 5 foot 2 with pink hair and brown eyes, last seen wearing a blue and pink vest, a black long-sleeve shirt, and black pants — a markedly different physical description and outfit than what 13WHAM and RochesterFirst reported. Whether the WHEC report concerns the same Amya Hester as the Penfield teen sought in the other accounts has not been established, and this article does not attempt to resolve that discrepancy.
What to Do If You Have Information
