The Music Complex RI has opened a North Providence location at 1854 Smith St., giving the family-run company three Rhode Island sites. The business sells and repairs instruments, offers lessons and rents rehearsal space. The new shop held its grand opening Monday, Sept. 14, according to The Valley Breeze.
What the North Providence shop offers
The Smith Street store is open Monday through Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It sells new and used instruments, rents equipment and provides repairs. Monthly instrument rentals range from $20 to $45, with brands including Fender, Marshall, Gretsch, Yamaha, Ampeg, Peavey, Korg and Mackie, according to The Valley Breeze.
The company offers rehearsal and recording space at its Pawtucket site and rents rooms by the hour in Smithfield. Full-band rooms with amplification and public-address systems cost $30 an hour, while drum rooms cost $20. The business also buys used gear and rents sound systems, according to The Valley Breeze.

How the site fits North Providence's commercial shift
The new location is part of a broader change in North Providence's economic profile. According to the North Providence Hazard Mitigation Plan, the town has shifted from a manufacturing and industrial base toward a commercial economy, with much new development focused on retail and commercial businesses.
Rudy D'Agostino founded the company in Pawtucket in 1994. After the business opened its Smithfield store and lesson site, the Pawtucket location became a dedicated recording space in 2013. The company now operates in Pawtucket, Smithfield and North Providence, with family members involved in the business, the newspaper reported.
Tom D'Agostino helps with lessons and repairs, and Rudy D'Agostino Jr. helps manage the company. Damen D'Agostino, 15, handles inventory and data entry. The instructors include professionally trained musicians, most of whom also perform in bands, according to The Valley Breeze.
Lessons and student programs
The Music Complex teaches standard instruments to students from beginner through advanced levels. Its Rock and Jazz School provides ensemble programs, and the company presents two large concerts each year for students of different ages and skill levels, according to The Valley Breeze.
The North Providence property is a two-story, 2,100-square-foot building constructed in 1922 on a 0.22-acre corner lot. It has a commercial storefront on the first floor and an apartment above, according to a Hogan Associates property listing. The space previously housed Paws R Us, and R.A.D. Realty purchased it for $425,000 in April 2026, The Valley Breeze reported.
