G's Burgers served its last burger in Naugatuck on Sunday, closing the doors on a spot that fed the town for 13 years. Twin Scoops Creamery, the ice cream shop sharing its building, followed a day later with its own permanent shutdown, leaving customers scrambling for one final sundae before it was gone.
The restaurant announced its closure in a Facebook post, saying Sunday would be its final day of operation, according to Patch. Twin Scoops Creamery, located in the same building, announced it would permanently close the following Monday, per the same report. Neither business gave a reason for the sudden closure, according to The Connecticut Scoop.
“We are incredibly grateful to have served the Naugatuck and surrounding communities for the past 13 years,” G's Burgers said in its announcement, as reported by The Connecticut Scoop. Twin Scoops had only recently taken over the space, having been introduced there this summer to replace the longtime Carvel that previously operated at the location, the outlet noted.
One Last Rush Before the Lights Went Out
The final weekend drew a crowd eager for one more taste. The restaurant offered customers one last fresh burger, hand cut fries and premium ice cream sundae, the announcement said.
The Naugatuck location had built a loyal following over its run. Customers who spoke with the Hartford Courant reflected on what the closure meant to them. One called G's Burgers “the best fast food around!” while another said it was their “favorite lunch spot and favorite burger and fries.”
Watertown Location Stays Open, Honors Gift Cards
While the Naugatuck chapter has closed, G's Burgers isn't gone from the region entirely. The chain's original Watertown location, found at 1300 Main Street, will remain open, and customers with a G's gift card purchased at the Naugatuck location can use it there, according to Patch's report. That Watertown store said it has been part of the community for more than 18 years and has reached a new long-term agreement with Carvel.

The Connecticut Scoop placed both businesses at 778 New Haven Avenue. For now, Naugatuck regulars looking for their G's fix will need to make the drive to Watertown, where the burgers, fries and gift cards are still good.
