A 41-year-old New Jersey man has been sentenced to four years in prison after he traveled to the Kansas City area during the 2023 NFL draft believing he was going to meet a child for sex. Glicerio Gallahad pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted statutory rape, and the case was one of three arrests that emerged from an undercover operation targeting people who thought they were arranging to meet children as young as 10.
Per KCTV, Gallahad made travel arrangements to Kansas City during the 2023 NFL draft after undercover investigators posing as children online chatted with him. According to Clay County officials, he was sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to the second-degree attempted statutory rape charge. The station reports that Gallahad planned to meet what he believed were children aged 10 to 14, but he was never actually communicating with a real minor.
How the Sting Unfolded
The Clay County Sheriff's Office and Homeland Security Investigations in Kansas City investigated the case together, according to the same KCTV report. Deputies arrested Gallahad shortly after he arrived in the Kansas City area, the outlet notes, closing out an operation that had been built around undercover investigators posing as children online to draw in adults seeking to meet them.
A separate report from wpsdlocal6.com from the time of the arrests said three men in total were taken into custody for allegedly trying to have sex with children in the Kansas City area during the NFL draft. That report described the men traveling to Clay County to meet who they believed to be children ranging in age from 10 to 14, with authorities saying the men arrived at an arranged hotel or apartment sometime between April 26 and April 30, 2023. Deputies arrested the men shortly after their arrival at the designated location, according to that account.
The earlier wpsdlocal6.com report identified Gallahad, of Madison, New Jersey, as one of the men, initially charged with attempted statutory sodomy involving a person younger than 14 and held on a $40,000 bond at the time. Prosecutors Say Charge Stands Despite No Real Victim
The Clay County prosecutor said Gallahad remains criminally responsible under Missouri law despite never talking with an actual minor.
