Nina Sofia Mohr, the 45-year-old Texas woman who vanished from a friend's Haiku residence, has been located. The development ended a search that drew in her family, search dogs, and a police helicopter.
Mohr was last seen at her friend's home in Haiku around 7 p.m. on July 18, wearing a black t-shirt or tank top with “Maui” printed on it and tan or brown shorts, according to the Maui Police Department. She was reported missing the next day, July 19. Police described her as Caucasian-Hispanic, 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing roughly 150 to 160 pounds, with brown hair usually worn in a bun and brown eyes. She was not wearing eyeglasses when she went missing, and she left behind her cell phone and had no vehicle on the island.

Police Deployed a Helicopter, Then Suspended the Search
A friend of Mohr's contacted her family after discovering she was not at the residence where she had been staying, setting off the initial missing-person report. Roughly ten days later, police escalated their response: on July 30, the Maui Police Department deployed its helicopter, Hekili, alongside Maui Search and Rescue personnel for targeted aerial and ground operations in the Haiku area based on new investigative leads, per the department's own account.
The fundraiser page continued to seek support for efforts to locate Mohr.

Maui Police thanked the public for its assistance in the case, which was tracked under report number 26-018656. The case also prompted public appeals for information.
Part of a Broader Pattern on Maui
Mohr's case is not an isolated one for Maui law enforcement. On September 1, the department located 22-year-old Mississippi resident Makela Eubanks safely after she was reported missing on August 31 following a one-way trip to the island in July. And on Wednesday, September 9, 31-year-old Colin Townsend of Kahului was reported missing by a concerned family member, as reported by Maui Now.
